Gazi University Library Online

The central library was established in 1982 in order to support teaching and research activities. The library is the largerst one in Ankara with a reader capacity of  5.000. It contains 150.346 books, 61.938 periodicals, 10.474 graduate theses. The library is subscribed to 702 foreign and 583 Turkish journals.  There is on line access to 20.000 journals for the literature survey in the library. Library adds nearly 10.000-15.000 volumes to the library materials every year.
There are 200 computers located throughout the  library in order to enable users to reach on-line data bases, subscribed journals and to make catalog search for the library through OPAC terminals. It is also possible for teaching and research staff to search the subscribed journals and use the databases through our web page using their personal computers in their offices and at home.
Gazi University Central and Engineering Faculty libraries give joint document finding services with Middle East Technical University, Hacettepe University and ULAKBIM libraries. This service, shortly known as OBES, provides photocopies of articles within three days at a very reasonable cost.
National Library of Medicine classification system for medical and health materials and Library of Congress classification system for the other materials are used in the library catalog.
Computers are used for lending and membership processes in order to carry out book circulation in a more efficient manner.
The qualified librarians and students working part time provide the library with such services.
The students go through an introductory orientation program about the library use at the beginning of each academic year.
